Changing it up!

It's been some time since my last post and I have not had enough time to devote to new paintings so I started some quick sketches these days. You can view most of them at my watercolor journal.

I usually paint fruits or flowers as the subject of my paintings but these days I've decided to change my subjects and turn away from still life. I desperately wanted to paint something colorful and that's when I stumbled upon some images of lovebirds. Lovebirds are gorgeous and they have a color scheme similar to mangoes with hues of yellow, orange and green.

Why do you paint/draw so many apples?

If you've seen my artwork then chances are - you've probably seen an apple or two..or three. I love painting apples! There's a very good reason for that too. Apples are my favorite type of fruit and they are (in my opinion) the most colorful type of fruit as well. They are also extremely easy to draw - it's a circle! However, there's also a sentimental value associated with apples for me.

Painting with Qor Watercolors

I recently posted about the Qor Watercolors samples compared to other brands like M. Graham paints or WInsor Newton but I ended up buying the Introductory 12 set to play with. I had a 40% off coupon for Blick and couldn't resist.

More Terrariums and a New WIP!

My second hobby is too messy...

I bought some plants about a week or so ago from JuciyKits.com to build a few more terrariums. They have a great selection and wonderful terrarium kits for anyone who doesn't want to drive around town picking up all the necessary supplies.

They also have great tutorials and tips on terrarium creation and care. Their 'Moonshine' series inspired me to make these cute little BlueMason Jar Terrariums!

Spring flowers & Inspiration

Spring is finally here in NYC! Warm weather, flowers, sunshine all around...including allergies. Not so fun.

It's been awhile since my last post but I've finished my last piece and began working on a new flower painting (hopefully in time for Mother's day!)
